The idea of YogaAdvisor (*name changed for confidentiality) is to create a smartphone application that acts as a “Tripadvisor” for yoga. This means, users can — wherever they are around the world — find yoga classes, yoga teacher trainings, yoga retreats or the like near them and compare them based on ratings, images, and so on.

During the Covid-19 crisis however it became obvious that the yoga industry changed and not only did in-person yoga experience a large drawback, but at the same time a new market opened up for online yoga. As a consequence the founder of YogaAdvisor decided to adjust the business idea and start the app as a “Tripadvisor” for online yoga instead.

Defined Problem Statement

Without relying on their network’s recommendation, it is difficult for women between 25 and 39 who live in large European cities, to find an online yoga class that fits into their schedule and meets their expectations.

This leaves users with frustration and returning to the same teachers and classes they know already, having to adjust their personal schedules and feeling less flexible.

In times of uncertainty and change during the Covid-19 crisis it is particularly important for people to look after their physical and mental health, which is why following their yoga practice should be a priority. While there is an overload of online yoga classes, there is no accepted solution in the market that gives users simple and structured access to them.

The smartphone application “YogaAdvisor” offers a directory of available online yoga classes with detailed information and filter options that allow users to easily find yoga classes that match specific criteria, including but not restricted to location, time, yoga style, and teacher.
